Amelia Island is easily one of the most beautiful places in the Sunshine State. Fall brings plenty of fun and excitement for your family along with the change of seasons.
Our real estate agents know visitors to Amelia Island often fall in love with it. Amelia Island homes for sale are always very popular! While it may be best known for summer enjoyment in the sun, there's plenty to do when the weather cools down in the fall.
As October dawns, let's take a closer look at what this charming community has to offer:
- Amelia Island State Park – State Road A1A North, Jacksonville, FL 32226
Amelia Island State Park is one of the most unusual treasures of Florida's beloved state park system. Visit 8 a.m. to sundown 365 days a year – barring occasional seasonal closures for shorebird nesting – and you can cycle, hike, swim, and fish while learning about a unique Florida ecosystem.
- Fort Clinch State Park – 2601 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034
Fort Clinch State Park is also open 365 days a year from 8 a.m. until sunset and offers a ranger station for your convenience. History buffs can visit the preserved Fort grounds, including the cannons that once pointed across St. Mary's River into Georgia, marking a key boundary of the Civil War.
- Ron Sapp Egans Creek Greenway Trail – See Website for Location Information
Ron Sapp Egans Creek Greenway Trail is a protected area spanning more than 300 acres alongside the creek of the same name. Its network of trails is ideal for hiking or cycling. Marsh rabbits, alligators, snakes, and birds can be viewed at a distance.
- Amelia Island Jazz Festival – See Website for Location Information
The nonprofit Amelia Island Jazz Festival is a tradition that comes back each year in late October. A fresh slate of local, national, and international acts will play jazz classics as they celebrate 20 years of Amelia Island jazz. There's something happening every single day of October, with headline acts like The Manhattan Transfer.
- ZOOMA Amelia Island – See Website for Registration and Venue Information on Amelia Island
ZOOMA Amelia Island has been celebrated as the most hotly anticipated and strongly attended race in the ZOOMA Women's Race Series for many years. With sunrise yoga, a post-race party, and – most importantly – two full days of running, it all centers around the incomparable Ritz-Carlton of Amelia Island. This year, it'll happen on October 14 and 15.
- Northeast Florida Fair – 543378 US-1, Callahan, FL 32011
The Northeast Florida Fair has been around for 75 years and is warmly greeted every fall by families from around Amelia Island and beyond. The Fair kicks off with preliminary events as early as October 6 and will have something for everyone all the way through Saturday, October 21. It all starts with a Horse Show followed by the Miss Northeast Florida Beauty Pageant. Check out the schedule so you don't miss your favorite event!
- Right Whale Festival – Main Beach Park, 32 North Fletcher Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL, 32034
Celebrating the annual return of the Right Whales to the shores off Amelia Island, our local Right Whale Festival is a truly unique spectacle that encapsulates some of the best of Amelia Island culture. Taking the center stage of Amelia Island social life on Saturday, November 4, and Sunday, November 5, it is a family-run event that raises awareness of the Right Whale population (now numbering less than 350) with fun activities.
