Florida Beaches

Where else would you celebrate Walk in the Sand Day than at our spectacular Central Florida Beaches? On Saturday, March 25, head to one of these great nearby locations for some fun in the sun.

  • Cocoa Beach
Just over an hour's drive east of Orlando sits Cocoa Beach. Known as the "quintessential beach town," Cocoa Beach is also the hub of Florida's iconic Space Coast. With its proximity to Cape Canaveral, a visit to Cocoa Beach lets families work in some entertaining STEM education. California's Santa Monica Pier has nothing on Cocoa Beach's version, which features an 800-foot stretch of restaurants, shops, live music, and activities such as volleyball and surfing. New additions for 2023 include Chip Wrecked, where you can order a variety of toppings on a bowl of kettle-cooked chips to create your new favorite street food.

  • Daytona Beach
For generations of college students, Daytona Beach has been synonymous with spring break, but the town's appeal extends to all ages. Daytona Beach is well-known for its 23-mile span of pristine white sand, anchored by the Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Pier. Daytona Lagoon is a perfect mix of water-based activities and amusement park attractions. Adrenaline junkies can't get enough of Screamer Park and its signature ride, the Slingshot, which catapults you more than 360 feet in the air at speeds of 70 MPH. Plan to arrive on Friday and catch the 33rd Annual Spring Turkey Run, a unique event that combines a car show, craft fair, and swap meet.

  • Ormond Beach
If your idea of a day at the beach is serenity and relaxation, then Ormond Beach is the place for you. This charming town is so elegant and peaceful that oil magnate John D. Rockefeller made it his winter home from 1918 until his death in 1937. The Casements, Rockefeller's residence, is open to the public free of charge. Right across the street is Fortunato Park, spanning 2.6 acres along the Halifax River. The park's centerpiece is a cupola which is the only part that remains of the legendary Hotel Ormond. Andy Romano Beachfront Park, with its grilling and picnic area, splash pad, and playground, is a popular family-friendly spot.

  • New Smyrna Beach
Does your family include a furry, four-legged member? New Smyrna Beach takes pride in being one of the more pet-friendly recreational spots in the state. Take Fido for a (leashed) romp at Smyrna Dunes Park, a 73-acre dog-friendly beach. Many of the local B&Bs, hotels, and motels welcome pets, as do a number of restaurants with outdoor seating. Even NSB's venerable Dairy Queen, the oldest one in Florida at 70 years and counting, hands out pup cups.
