Dog-Friendly Beaches

Does your dog cast longing looks when the two of you pass by the ocean or a lake? Make your precious pet's beachfront dreams come true. We've got the scoop on the best dog-friendly beaches along Florida's East Coast.

Canova Beach Park - 3299 N. Hwy. A1A, Indian Harbor Beach, FL 3290
Canova Beach Park
is currently the only dog-friendly beach in Brevard County. The park spans just over nine acres with a pavilion, grill, benches, and outside showers. Drinking fountains are available so you can keep Fido's water bowl full. All dogs must be on a leash. Park hours are dawn until dusk, seven days a week.

Smyrna Dunes Park - 2995 N. Peninsula Ave., New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169
Your pet can practice paddling at Smyrna Dunes Park, where dogs have a swimming area at the beaches along the river shore. A popular feature is the two-mile-long elevated boardwalk with its scenic ocean views, all just minutes from New Smyrna Beach homes for sale. Dogs are permitted on the boardwalk before 10 a.m. and must remain leashed when they're not in the water. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. and admission is $10 per vehicle.

Vero Beach Dog Park - 3449 Indian River Dr. E., Vero Beach, FL 32963
As their slogan proudly proclaims, Vero Beach Dog Park is "as much for people as it is for dogs." The cozy, five-acre spot, tucked alongside the Indian River Lagoon near Vero Beach homes for sale, is a great place for dogs to play and socialize off-leash while their humans relax and chat. A covered seating area and water fountains for dogs and humans provide relief from the heat. Access is free to all, but donations help support the efforts of volunteers who operate and maintain the park. Hours are dawn to dusk daily.

Crescent Beach - 6930 A1A S., Crescent Beach, FL 32080
Just outside St. Augustine is a beautiful stretch of coastline, dubbed Crescent Beach due to its shape. The hard-packed sand is perfect for long, leisurely walks with your furry BFF. Showers, restrooms, and picnic tables make this beach a great site for family outings after viewing Crescent Beach homes for sale. On-beach driving is available from March 1 through August 31 for a nominal fee. Be sure to keep your pet on a leash at all times.

Walton Rocks Beach - 6700 S. Ocean Dr., Jensen Beach, FL 34957
Surf's up for you and Fido at Walton Rocks Beach in St. Lucie County, where there are many amazing Jensen Beach homes for sale. With 24 acres of beachfront grounds, there's plenty of room for running on the sand and splashing in the waves. Please be mindful of the signs to stay off the dunes, as they are home to delicate plants that are easily damaged.

Lighthouse Point Park - 5000 S. Atlantic Ave., Ponce Inlet, FL 32127
Named for the striking landmark at its center, the tallest one in Florida, Lighthouse Point Park is just south of Daytona Beach. This beautiful park is 52 acres of land on the northern shoreline of Ponce de Leon Inlet, right down the street from Ponce Inlet homes for sale. Leashed dogs are welcome on the elevated wooden boardwalks and at the pet-friendly swimming area along the inlet shore. Hours are 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily and admission is $10 per vehicle.
