Alyce Decker, AlCP, is a local beach resident for almost 40 years and has spent the past twenty+ years as a research urban planner in northeast Florida. She holds a BA in sociology from Marquette University in Wisconsin, an MA in Corporate & Political Communication from Fairfield University in Connecticut and an MA in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Florida. The oldest of seven siblings, born in five different USN duty stations, Alyce knows what it was like to always be the 'new student' in the class! Seven new schools between K-12th grade! Community involvements have led to volunteer positions at the Cummer Museum and the Finance and Strategic Planning committees for the Diocese of St. Augustine. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the First Coast Section of the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association, and is co-chair of the Mayport Waterfront Partnership. Additionally Alyce is on the Pastoral Council of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Local efforts include working with the firm that developed Sunshine Park in Jacksonville Beach and the citizen initiative that developed Bird Island Park in Ponte Vedra. She has served as a poll worker/clerk for the St Johns County Supervisor of Elections since 2004. You can find Alyce and her husband hosting regular family gatherings at their home and supporting our Jacksonville Jaguars both for home and many away games. Having inherited her love of singing from her Dad, Alyce is a soprano in the all-volunteer Jacksonville Symphony Chorus. Alyce says, "Having moved a lot during my life I'm looking forward to helping people find that special place to come home to!"
