As the daughter of a Naval Officer, I grew up respecting the life of military families and learning their unique challenges. Born in Pensacola, I moved with my family to Japan, and when my dad retired, we settled in Jacksonville where I grew up. It was there that I came to realize my passion for sports, and for me, that sport was soccer. When I was sixteen, the untimely death of my dad made me keenly aware of the financial and emotional challenges of a single-parent family.
I am a Florida State Seminole by degree, but a Florida Gator at heart. Growing up, Gainesville was my home away from home. Having lived in Tallahassee and now, Gainesville, I can appreciate and respect the passion of both universities, creating for me the ability to relate to Florida fans whether they are orange and blue, garnet and gold, or gold and black, to name a few.
My six-year career as a Senior Account Manager with UPS exposed me to the world of sales, allowing me to discover not only my passion for this career, but also my desire to work closely with businesses and individuals. Traveling the state of Florida for UPS expanded my knowledge of and admiration for the cities and towns that make up the Sunshine State, and the people who inhabit them.
I met my future husband on my way home from a camping trip to the Florida Keys with high school friends. He had just graduated from UF’s College of Medicine. I was based in Jacksonville with UPS and so we had to settle for a long-distance relationship while he completed his 5-year radiology residency at UF. We married in 2011 and Gainesville finally became my forever home. We put down the best kind of roots--our son was born in 2012 and our daughter in 2015. My husband’s medical career has recently taken him to the VA Hospital in Gainesville, which has brought me back full circle to the military and veterans. Despite the demands of medicine, marriage, kids, and animals, we have never lost our love of camping, nor have we ever strayed from our belief in the importance of family and friends. With a son in elementary school, I love to stay involved and am an active member of the PTA/ACCPTA.
Growing up as an athlete, I have always been drawn to an active lifestyle. As my children became a bit less needy of my full-time attention, I was reminded of how much I missed that component of my life. So, in 2017, I earned my Group Fitness Instructor certification and joined Gainesville Health and Fitness as an instructor of Spin, High Intensity Interval Training, and BodyPump. Teaching these classes has also made me more cognizant of how I am drawn to helping people identify and achieve goals, both short-term and life goals.
With a growing family and two large dogs, the space in our townhome was glaringly inadequate. So in 2015, we purchased our current home. Once again life led us to discover another passion--a love for hands-on home improvement. Not only has this kept us busy for the past four years and filled our garage with a plethora of power tools, it has also sparked in me an allure for real estate, architecture, and design. In retrospect, this journey seems to have been a natural transition from UPS sales to stay-at-home mom to fitness instructor to Realtor®.
