Winter Springs, FL: LOCAL ECONOMY
Although the number one industry in the Greater Orlando Metropolitan area is the leisure and hospitality industry, the area is also a member of the 23 county Florida High Tech Corridor. This includes Seminole County and the Winter Springs area. The FHTC was established in order to grow the high tech industry in the 23 member counties in conjunction with three university systems including the University of Central Florida. With the involvement of FHTC and the initiatives of the Seminole County Economic Development commission, Winter Springs boasts a median annual household income around $62,500.
Some of Seminole County’s largest employers are Convergys, the Florida Hospital system, Chase Bankcard Services and the Automobile Association of America. The top industries in Seminole County include education services, professional, scientific and technological services, and the motion picture and sound recording industry.
