Wekiva, FL Area Parks & Recreation
For residents seeking a slower pace, the many area state parks provide serenity in Central Florida. Local state parks such as Wekiwa Springs and Blue Springs, present nature lovers the opportunity to swim in the pristine waters of the Floridan Aquifer and the Wekiva River. These and other area state parks offer swimming, canoeing, hiking, camping and picnicking among wild Florida.
At Hontoon Island State Park, visitors can access the park with private boat or by park ferry. Once on the island, hiking, canoeing and primitive camping are available. DeLeon Springs offer a chance to swim in clear spring water and to eat self-made pancakes at the park restaurant. Patrons of the restaurant are seated at tables with built in griddles and invited to make-their-own pancakes.
