  • Dianne Pittman Installed As St. Augustine WCR Chapter President

    Vice President/Managing Broker Dianne Pittman of the Watson Realty Corp., St. Augustine office was installed as the 2013 President of the St. Augustine Regional Chapter of Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR) in a recent ceremony held at Marsh Creek Country Club. The St. Augustine Regional Chapter is a professional real estate group affiliated with WCR – a national professional development organization with 19,000 members. WCR has been trusted by professional REALTORS® for more than 60 years as a reliable source of industry knowledge and leadership skill development.

    Pittman will serve a one-year term as President, and will be responsible for presiding over the governing board and the chapter’s business resource meetings. Her role is to provide leadership training and education to further the professionalism and personal excellence of the membership. Pittman has been a WCR member since 2000 and active in the St. Augustine Regional Chapter for five years. She has held positions of Vice President of Membership, Education Chairman and President-Elect and she has been a REALTOR® for 12 years.

  • Where to Put the Tree? Using Nature’s Bounty to Inexpensively Sell Your Home

    The holidays are the best time for staging and selling a home. It’s the time of year when homes are decorated and looking the prettiest.  Families often relocate during the Christmas break, so lookers are serious buyers who need to make a decision quickly. Even a vacant home can be decorated at Christmas without spending a lot of money. The first thing many people think about when looking at a home is where they are going to put their Christmas tree! A vacant house can have a decorated Christmas tree showcasing that perfect spot. Seeing where their future tree – a decorating symbol of this time of year – can help buyers envision themselves living in the house. Whether you are still living in your home while it is being shown or it is vacant, elegant holiday decorations do not have to cost a lot of money.

    An economical way to decorate the tree is using beautiful images on Christmas cards. Cut the backs of the cards off, trim the fronts and punch a hole.  Hang with a nice ribbon or with ornament hooks.  The dollar store has great cards for this project.

    • Fresh Cranberries from the grocery store are usually on sale at this time of year. Fill the bottom of a glass cylinder with the raw berries and fit a 3-inch candle in the middle. Coffee beans can be substituted for the berries. Add a few drops of almond extract to the beans for a lovely amaretto scent.
    • A walk in the yard with clippers can yield loads of beautiful free holiday decorations. Clippings from evergreen bushes or magnolia branches look great on fireplace mantles. Accent the green with red and white candles in glass containers. A large wine goblet can be used with tea light candles and adds an elegant touch.
    • Holly, juniper, cedar and pine clippings work in a vase or tucked into potted plants or around poinsettias.
    • Shells and starfish can be added for economical holiday decorations. These make great accents in bathrooms and kitchens.

    Staging your home is a great way to improve the number of showings and it can help to increase sales. Christmas time makes this process fun and easy with so many great options for decorating using nature.

    Tis the season to put your house for sale!  Decorating your home for the holidays will showcase it in a very special way.  Holiday décor can add a cozy feeling to your house. A few elegant decorations throughout the house will be appealing to buyers but always remember that less is best.  

    • ·Add a holiday scent throughout the house such as scented candles or baking some cookies.  One scent per floor of the house is best. Lightly scented soaps in the restrooms is also a good idea.
    • How can buyers see themselves celebrate their holidays in your home?  Set your dining room table with your best dishes and elegant holiday centerpiece, as if setting up for a dinner party or holiday celebration.
    • Simple yet elegant exterior décor will set the buyer’s expectations of the home.  Create a warm and inviting atmosphere and entrance so they will want to see the inside of the home and buy it.

  • Mr. Watson Meets with Real Estate Leaders in Lisbon

    Mr. Watson, founder and Chairman of the Board of Watson Realty Corp, attended the recent Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (LeadingRE) International Symposium in Lisbon, Portugal. Real estate leaders representing other top brokerage firms from 15 countries in Europe, North America and Asia, joined together to build connections and hear from industry experts. 

    Watson, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for LeadingRE and one of the original founders, introduced keynote speaker, Matthew Ferrara of Matthew Ferrara & Company. Ferrara’s presentation focused on “Embracing the Global Marketplace.”  Other presentations included topics on marketing, economic housing information and forecasts, and business strategies for real estate.  Luxury Portfolio International, LeadingRE's luxury division, co-hosted the event.  Network initiatives were offered by members of the LeadingRE and Luxury Portfolio leadership.
